(Edited Nov 2016) The reply from Microsoft shows usefulness characteristic of many Microsoft answers to issues associated with non-Microsoft things.
It is possible to use the TS100 in a machine running Windows 10, but it's complicated and probably not worth the trouble. I have a Travel Scanner 100 (TS100). I updated from Win7/64, where the TS100 Onetouch software worked perfectly, to Win10. The Onetouch software continued to work without change, but it wouldn't work for 'Configure Before Scan', which uses the TS100 TWAIN driver instead of Windows WIA; that option is important to me because it allows scanning into a multipage searchable PDF. I now realise I should have just left it as it was (the problem isn't solvable in Win10 AFAIK), but decided to remove and reinstall. Removing was difficult and nightmarish. I deal with computers a lot, so was able to work round the problems; I'm just giving an indication here, not step by step. To remove OneTouch, first use the Windows remove programs options. Then find and run, in this order, the programs Driver_Removal_tool.exe, Onetouch_removal_tool.exe, and INFclear.exe. Master p make em say uhh download. Run them all in administrator (elevated) mode. You should be able to find them on the Virioneer or Xerox scanner sites (the TS100 is I think identical to the Visioneer Road Warrior 2 (I think it's '2', not sure). What I did was to reinstall initially from the TS100 CD, with Paperport and OCR support, then update. In hindsight I think that it helps to always update from a file on a local, not network, drive, and disable virus scanning. If you get error message installing .MSI files, install from an elevated command prompt:
msiexec.exe /i filename.msi /qb
(If an uninstall fails, try
msiexec.exe /I filename.msi REINSTALLMODE=voums REINSTALL=ALL
A Web search for <msiexec gb> or similar should help with this.
Ultimately after a lot of fiddling I got back to exactly where I was after the Win7>Win10 upgrade, TS100 OneTouch working except for 'Configure Before Scan'.
Unless Visoneer/Xerox release a driver TWAIN-compatible with Win10 (they won't). I doubt that OneTouch software will ever work in TWAIN mode on Win10. (Please prove me wrong, and tell me how!)
Things that work:
- Run the TS100 in a virtual machine running an earlier version of Windows (I use XP with VMware Workstation 12, free (not free trial) version.
- Hamrick Vuescan (not free) works. I don't see any advantage for the TS100, as OneTouch has lots of features useful for scanning documents such as impressive OCR, despeckling, straightening, and so on; Vuescan is ideal for scanning photographs.
